Ronald "Ron" Young Obituary

Ronald Michael “Ron” Young, 75, most recently of Akron, Ohio and longtime resident of Canton South went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 26, 2022. He was surrounded by his family and went peacefully into the arms of his Savior. Ron was a graduate and star athlete of Canton South High School. He was a proud Wildcat, class of 1965. Ron made South proud as an all-time high scorer. He played many sports and to this day spoke so fondly of Coach Ash. He was drafted to the Pittsburg Pirates out of high school as a pitcher. After his baseball career Ron owned a successful electrical business. He taught and mentored many young men both on and off the job site. Ron gave so many a chance to learn a trade but he also taught life lessons far beyond electrical work. His work ethic and his character were unmatched. Of all of Ron’s accomplishments, his greatest was his relationship with God and his beautiful family. Ron loved the Lord with all of his heart and shared the Acts 2:38 message everywhere he went. Ron received the gift of the Holy Ghost at Lighthouse Tabernacle in Massillon Ohio. He attended The Apostolic Church of Barberton, and most recently he attended and served at Calvary Apostolic Church of Akron. Ron had two goals in this life, to see his family saved, and to make Heaven his home and take someone with him! Ron was one of a kind. He loved with what he called a “scary” love. He gave without holding back, and his love was truly unconditional. He strived to be like Christ every day. Many would point out Ron’s height at 6’5, but EVERYONE felt his heart! Ron is preceded in death by his parents, William and Ledna Young; sister Donna Deaton (Young) and brother, Dennis Young. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of almost 57 years, Jo Ann Young (Manse) and his adoring children, daughters, Pamela Strange (Young), Jennifer Carter (Young) husband Jeffrey Carter, son, Adam Young wife, Chelsea Young (Ciptak) and daughter, Lauren Merk (Young) husband David Merk. Ron told everyone about his 15 grandchildren, Jordan Strange wife Traci, Jacklyn Bellman (Strange) husband Casey, Spencer Strange, Savannah White (Strange) husband Nolan, Sawyer Strange, Solomon Carter wife Allison, Samuel Carter, Lilly Carter, Sydney Young, Nash Young, Rece Young, Ryland Young, Jordyn Young, Tennyson Merk, and Archer Merk. He also adored his 6 great grandchildren, Zachary, Evan, Michael “Xander”, Beckett, Maddox, and Stella. He was such a proud husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, and he never missed an opportunity to share his love for his family! A service will be held for Ron on, Friday, September 30, 2022 at Calvary Apostolic Church of Akron, 2693 Nesbitt Ave, Akron, OH 44314. Calling hours will be 4 pm to 7 pm with a service immediately to follow. Ron will be laid to rest Monday, October 3, 2022 surrounded by his family. The family would like to thank all of the wonderful nurses and doctors that have cared for our husband and father over the past few weeks.
