Ruth Dorthea (Sisson) Miller

Ruth Dorthea Miller (nee Sisson) 97, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2026.

She was born in Barberton on February 24, 1929, to the late Lee and Jennie Sisson.  Ruth was a beautician for 50 years in New Franklin and Barberton.

She was a past member of the Eagles, Sons of Herman and Lions Club.

Her hobbies included sewing, crocheting, bowling, golfing and painting.

She taught baton and started the majorette group, the Lorette’s and was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader.  Throughout her life she did modeling and fashion shows.  Ruth loved music and was an avid dancer.  She truly enjoyed life, family get togethers and sharing memories.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Emil J. Miller; brothers, Bill and Harold Sisson and sister, Irene Maxwell.

Ruth is survived by daughters, Rebecca Vilsack (Randy Johnson) and Valerie (Robert) Valentine; grandson, Michael (Abigail) Valentine; great-grandson, James; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Ruth’s funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at 12 Noon at the Campfield-Hickman-Collier Funeral Home, 566 W. Park Avenue, Barberton, Ohio 44203 with Pastor Don Richards officiating.  Burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.  Ruth’s family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until time of her service.
