Sally J. Powell

Sally J. Powell, 92, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 2, 2023. She was born on November 22, 1930 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Robert Sable and Thelma Koosed. Sally was a resident of the Barberton area for most of her life and retired as a beautician in Barberton. She was an active member of Columbia United Church of Christ. Sally served as a past Worthy Matron of Jeanette Chapter #212 O.E.S., which became Anna Dean Chapter. Along with her parents she is also preceded in death by brothers, Gene McElroy and Thomas Koosed. Sally is survived by her husband of 70 years, Lawrence “Larry”; son, Robert Jernigan; grandchildren, Rob (Katie) Jernigan Jr. and Lynett (Brian) Caplinger; great-granddaughter, Maria Caplinger; sister, Sharyn (Bud) Boyce; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Sally’s funeral service will be held Saturday September 9, 2023 at 10 a.m. at the Campfield-Hickman-Collier Funeral Home, 566 W. Park Ave., Barberton with Rev. John Henninger officiating. Burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 8th from 4 to 7 p.m. with an Eastern Star service at 6:45 p.m. The family would like to thank the staff at Legacy Barberton for the care and support Sally and her family received. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Legacy Barberton Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation, 85 Third Street, S.E., Barberton, Ohio 44203.
