A Fighting Trooper Until the End
Sam “Samuel” Crist
Doylestown – Sam (Samuel) Crist, 65, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 30th, 2024 after fighting a courageous 13 year health battle. Born May 13th, 1959 in Seoul, Korea then a lifelong resident of Barberton and Doylestown. For 29 years, Sam lived out his childhood dream of becoming a State Highway Patrol Trooper, then retiring in 2010. In his retirement, Sam found enjoyment in movies, music, cheating at card games, and having the nicest looking lawn in Doylestown. With that being said, Sam was well known for his sarcasm, witty comebacks, and endless repetitive police stories. Despite being strong willed, he always gave into the wishes of his two daughters who he loved so dearly. He was a strong believer in Christ and faithfully attended Calvary Baptist Church in Rittman. Preceded in death by his parents Robert and Kyong Crist of Barberton; he is survived by his wife of 36 years, Sherrie; daughters, Jenny (Patrick) Long, and Sarah Crist. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family would like to extend their utmost thanks and appreciation to all the guardian angels who took care of Sam at both Akron City Hospital ICU and Wadsworth Fresenius Kidney Care. Their kindness and compassion during these trying times did not go unnoticed. The family would also like to thank Mosaic Church of Wadsworth and Calvary Baptist Church of Rittman for all their prayers, love, and support over the years. A special thank you to Sam’s Highway Patrol brothers for all the support and memories. Friends and family are welcomed to calling hours at Campfield-Hickman-Collier Funeral Home, 566 W. Park Avenue, Barberton 44203 on Friday, January 3rd, 2025 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Campfield-Hickman-Collier Funeral Home on Saturday, January 4th, 2025 at 10 a.m. with Pastor Mike LaMar officiating.
