Walter "Bud" Woods, age 87, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, January 19, 2021. There are no words to describe what a great man he was and how much he loved his family. He never met a stranger and his generous demeanor impacted countless individuals. He was truly loved by all, especially his family. He was born and raised in Akron to Harry & Goldie Woods. He said that enlisting in the Army in 1952 was the best decision of his life, because he met his wife of almost 67 years, Eleanor, while stationed at Fort Devens, MA. Upon his discharge from the Army, he and Eleanor returned to Akron to start a family and raise their two beautiful daughters. He loved his job at Goodyear and was a proud Local 2 Union member and Division Chairman. After his retirement, he and Eleanor enjoyed time with his grandchildren, vacationing, and frequent day trips. Bud was an active bicyclist, fisherman, pool shark, and loved partaking in these activities with his family. Bud was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Bob and Harry Woods. He leaves behind his beloved wife Eleanor; daughters, Laurie Foster (Tom Schleicher) and Christine (Keith) Gilley; grandchildren Paul (Erin) Snyder and Kaley Foster (Kyle McDonald); step-grandchildren, Kristopher (Molly) Gilley, and Kurtis (Caitlyn) Gilley and step-great-grandchildren. A private family service has taken place. Bud regularly supported the Salvation Army, please consider a donation in his name in lieu of flowers.
