William “Bill” A. Goebel, 75, passed away Monday, March 20, 2023. Bill was a resident of Clinton for 38 years. He was born in Akron on July 6, 1947 and was a graduate of Garfield High School, Class of 1965. He then went to the University of Akron, graduating in 1969, where he was involved in ROTC, then served in Vietnam as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. He then served in the Army Reserves for 13 years, attaining the rank of Major. Bill retired as a teacher from Field Local Schools with 33 years of service, where he also coached football, basketball, and track. He was a track and field official for local high schools and colleges. He and his son, Tim, were involved in the Soap Box Derby. Bill enjoyed golf and was a Corvette enthusiast. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Adele (Swidrak) Goebel. Bill is survived by his wife of 49 years, Marianne; sons, William (Margaret) and Timothy (Nicole); three grandchildren: Jordyn, Cooper and Maverick; sister, Dolores Horschak; brother, Joseph (Eleanor) Rogers; mother-in-law, Juliann Holzapfel; brother-in-law, John Holzapfel; along with other family members and many friends.The family will receive friends and family on Monday, March 27, 2023 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Campfield-Hickman-Collier Funeral Home, 566 W. Park Ave., Barberton. A private funeral service will be held with burial at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery with military honors.
